Pastoral Care & Counseling Major: Program Overview

The Bachelor of Theology (Th.B.) in Pastoral Care & Counseling is a 120-credit undergraduate degree designed to expand upon the 75-credit Graduate of Theology (Th.G.) in Pastoral Care & Counseling with 45 additional hours of advanced coursework and supervised ministry experience. Rooted in the authority of Scripture and shaped by historic Baptist theology, this program prepares students to offer wise, compassionate, and biblically grounded care in diverse ministry settings.

Students will deepen their knowledge of biblical counseling, emotional and spiritual health, grief and trauma care, family dynamics, and crisis ministry. Courses integrate theological reflection with practical skill-building, and students complete supervised counseling practicums and a senior capstone project that applies their learning in a real-world ministry context.

This program is ideal for those called to serve as pastors, chaplains, lay counselors, or Christian caregivers, and it also serves as strong preparation for graduate study in counseling or pastoral ministry.
