The online Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) is an advanced academic and research-oriented program designed to equip scholars, pastors, and educators for in-depth biblical study, teaching, and theological writing. This fully online format offers the flexibility needed by ministry professionals and educators to pursue rigorous scholarship without interrupting their current ministry or academic roles.

Students may specialize in one of the following majors:

  • Writings of John – A focused study on the Gospel of John, the Johannine Epistles, and the Book of Revelation, exploring their theological themes, literary structure, and significance for the Church today.
  • Writings of Paul – An intensive exploration of Pauline theology, historical context, and exegetical insights across the Pauline corpus, with an emphasis on applying Paul’s message to contemporary ministry.
  • Writings of Luke and Hebrews – A dual-focus major that examines Luke–Acts and the Book of Hebrews, tracing their theological unity, narrative development, and pastoral significance within the New Testament canon.

The Th.D. program emphasizes critical engagement with the biblical text, original languages, and relevant scholarship, while also encouraging theological reflection that serves the church and academy. Students complete a major research dissertation contributing original scholarship to their field of study.

Prerequisites: Master of Biblical Studies in New Testament or equivalent graduate theological degree; proficiency in biblical Greek (and Hebrew where applicable).
